Last night, I opened a drawer and found two original western wedding favors that triggered some thoughts. Getting married is a life-changing decision. In the past, loving your partner was not necessary for you to get married. In fact, sometimes you wouldn’t even know your partner. Set in a fictional Victorian era, Tim Burton’s movie “Corpse Bride” is about the endeavor of a young shy groom who practices his wedding vows in the presence of a deceased young woman. She rises from the grave assuming he has married her. The whole thing occurs because the main character escapes from the wedding rehearsal; since he is too scared of getting married to someone he doesn’t know. Although the movie is all about fantasy, is does show how people were ordered to get married, without being given any kind of choice.

When your time comes, take into account that you have the freedom to think about it. You should evaluate the motives behind your engagement. You could even write a list with pros and cons of your relationship to properly evaluate it. If you are getting married to escape from something, or if you’ve simply always wanted to get married, those reasons alone are just not good enough.

Are you familiar and feel comfortable with your partner’s personal history? The best way to predict future behavior is relevant past behavior. If you know that your partner has certain “patterns” of behavior, do not look aside. Even though people are in constant evolution and may make mistakes once, watch for mistakes that kept repeating throughout time. Getting to know your partner’s family background should not be underestimated either, since children learn what they live. If you do not agree, just take a look at your own family background and see how and where they have influenced you. You probably have some “models” you will look for in your love life.

Remember, your heart and your head have to come to an agreement. If you love but you know that it’s not the right decision, you should think twice, while if you think it’s convenient but you don’t love your partner, you should completely forget about it.

Once you are completely ready to tie the knot, you could start planning the wedding. There are many ways to make your wedding different, for example, italian wedding favors will give your friends something to remember. You can choose among many different ways to set the atmosphere according to your tastes and those of your partners.
