Finding the Best Wedding Photographers
Friday, October 24th, 2008 By Lenox
If you flip open your local phonebook or go online to a phone number search base and look for wedding photographers you will no doubt find that the list is enormous. It can be a daunting task to decide which ones are the best ones to even look at. Of course they all advertise the best rates and the best photos but how can you be sure that you are getting just what you want? This can be simpler than you think.
One of the easiest ways to accomplish this wedding planning task is to talk to family, friends and coworkers. Simply ask them who they used as a wedding photographer. You can ask to look through their wedding albums to get an idea of what each photographers work is like. Remember to ask about the little things as well. Things like did your friend ask for any special types of shots, i.e.: candid or outdoor shots. If they did you can also ask what they thought of how those shots turned out and did they receive as many of those as they were hoping for. You should ask about pricing as well. Keeping with in your budget is important and you don’t want to find that you are choosing a photographer that will not be able to do so.
Of course the phonebook and internet searches should also be included in your list of possible contacts as you never know if the perfect photographer for your wedding has just not been used by anyone you already know.
Once you have gotten together a list of possible wedding photographers you will need to begin contacting them. Ensure that you ask about things like rates, special shots and time for delivery. You may have already asked these questions of your friends and family but as time passes things change and you may find that they have made rate and timing changes that your friends may not be aware of.
Once you have narrowed your list further it is time to really get to work. Contact each photographer on your revised list one more time. This time you need to ask for samples or a chance to view their work, many now have an online gallery of photos you can view. Looking over their previous work will give you a chance to narrow your search even further as you will be able to see how well they do with the types of shots you want to have for your wedding album.
You have now revised your list to an even shorter one and it is time to ask for references. You want to talk to people who have recently used the photographers you are interested in using. By doing this you will get an idea of how they work and how well they could do for your wedding. This is your day and you should have the best, so don’t be shy. You have to ask questions and be sure that you get all the facts to ensure that your wedding is memorable and every thing you had hoped.
