How Much To Tip Your Wedding Vendors?

For any wedding to be successful, planning is essential. You need to plan everything in advance and you should not leave anything for the last moment. You should not rely on your memory too much because you will not be in a position to keep track of things on that big day and you should not try to do that either. All the preparations should be completed well in advance and you should not take up any other responsibilities on your big day only then you will be able to enjoy your wedding day. One of the areas that require prior planning is tipping the wedding vendors.

First of all, you need to decide whether you want to tip them or not. However, it is just nice to tell people that they did a good job by tipping them. You are not required to tip the wedding vendors; but it is just customary to do so. If you think that, it is just few dollars here and few dollars there, you are wrong. The tipping amount itself will add up to several hundred dollars. Unless you plan ahead how much you are going to tip each vendor, you might be in for surprise if not shock.

First of all, make a list of all the vendors that you have hired and in the next column list their actual fee including all taxes. You can use something like Excel worksheet for calculating your expenses and tips so that you do not have to do the calculations manually. This will save you time and also rule out the possibilities of making mistakes. After listing the services that you hired with the cost against them, decide on the tip amount for each of them.  For some services, you can calculate based on certain percentage of the total fee that you pay them, for other services you can calculate based on tip per person. For instance, you can tip something like $25 each to the musicians. For the bar tenders you can give 5 to 10% of the total bill. To the wedding photographer you can give 10% of their total fee. These are just rough figures that will help you calculate the total amount of money that you would be spending on tipping your wedding vendors. After entering the tip value for each wedding vendor including your wedding planner, add up to see how much you will be paying as tips. If you think that the tipping cost is too high, then try to play around with the figures to bring it down. One of the advantages of using a computer program like Excel spreadsheet is that you do not have to redo the calculation every time you change a figure, the program will automatically do the recalculations.

You can also set yourself a limit on tipping amount by setting a percentage on your over all wedding expenses. You can expect to spend 5 to 10% of the over all wedding expenses. So be prepared both mentally and financially. By using websites like Weddinglenox.com, you will be able to find your wedding vendors at highly competitive prices. You can use the money that you save by hiring wedding services at competitive prices to tip your wedding vendors.
