Whether you choose to have a backyard wedding because it’s more cost effective or for sentimental value, it is still very much possible to have a beautiful, fun wedding.  Before you start planning on the event however, you have to make sure to consider a few very important things:

  • Do you have enough room for all of your guests?
  • Will there be enough room for tables, chairs, a buffet section and a dance floor?
  • How’s the parking situation?
  • Can you afford to pitch a large tent in case it’s going to rain or be very sunny?

Once you are able to reasonably ensure that all of factors are under control, you can start planning and decorating your backyard wedding.  Here are a few inspirational wedding  decorations ideas for your backyard wedding.

The Black and White Theme- This color theme adds elegance to your backyard wedding decorations. A black and white theme is the most sophisticated color combination is a very easy one to tie in throughout the wedding decorations process.  It’s very easy to find invitations, centerpieces, table linens, chair covers and tents in black and white. If you’re up to it, you can even request that all of your guest wear black and white only.

The Color Theme- The black and white wedding decorations theme may be the most elegant, but, color combinations such as lavender and white or turquoise and white add an uplifting mood to the décor. This theme works beautifully when surrounded by a garden. Imagine a wedding decoration where small vases of lilacs line the way from the front of the house to the backyard where the festivities are going on.

Lantern Theme- Inspired by Asian lanterns this theme is very easy to incorporate into your wedding decorations. Hang white lanterns from the roof of the tent to create a bright, clean décor. Red colored lanterns will give a more dimmed and romantic feel to the wedding. Pink gives a more gentle feel to the wedding decorations.

Country Theme- The wedding decorations for this theme can be both fun and functional. Rather than chairs, your guests can lounge on haystacks and checkered tablecloths. Top it off by serving bbq and lemonade.

Snowflake Theme- Create a winter wonderland and a world of your own in your very own backyard décor. Start shopping for your wedding during the Christmas clearance sales to get all sorts of snowglobes and hanging decorations in the shape of snowflakes. Add a  lot of Baby’s Breathe to your centerpieces to continue the theme on your table settings.

Hawaiian Theme- Start by handing each guest a leis and tell them to limbo themselves over to the tiki bar. Use red or yellow as your main color and accent your decorations with bold floral patterns. Serve pineapples, Hawaiian pizza, Mahi Mahi and Mais Tais to your guests.

Whichever theme you choose, remember to stop, take a deep breath and have a good look around on the day of your wedding. Your wedding is a very special day and you should enjoy the festivities, the guests and the wedding decorations. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and happy decorating!
